The First Saturday Devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

The observance of the first Saturday in honor of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is intended to make reparation to it for the sins of mankind. This devotion was revealed by the Blessed Virgin to three children, Francisco, Jacinta and Lucia to whom she appeared at Fatima, Portugal, in 1917. On June 13, 1917, Our Lady specifically stated in speaking to Lucia: “Jesus wants to make use of you to make me known and loved. He wants to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart.

Our Lady repeated this in the July 13th apparition when, after the vision of Hell that was granted to the three children, she said: “You have seen Hell, where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace.” Our Lady asks for reparation. “There are so many souls whom the Justice of God condemns for sins committed against me, that I have come to ask reparation.”

“O my Jesus, I offer this for love of Thee, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary. ”

Steps to the First Saturday devotion honoring the Immaculate Heart of Mary:
1. Go to Confession
2. Receive Holy Communion
3. Recite five decades of the Rosary*
4. “Keep me company for fifteen minutes while meditating on fifteen mysteries of the Rosary” (separate from the Rosary itself)
*Preferably done in the presence of the Lord in the Tabernacle or at Adoration

Promises
1. The Virgin Mary’s assistance at the hour of death with the graces necessary for salvation for those who practice the devotion.
2. Salvation of souls and peace as a result of promoting of the Devotion to the Immaculate Heart.

First Fridays

First Fridays in Honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

The Heart of Jesus is the symbol of the infinite love that impelled the Son of God to become our brother, to die for us on the Cross, and to remain forever in the Sacrament of the Altar. Jesus asks each of us to return that love.

In various appearances to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, Jesus manifested His great love for human beings and made the following promises to those who give particular honor to His Sacred Heart on the first Friday of nine consecutive months:

“I will give them all the graces necessary in their state of life.”
“I will establish peace in their homes.”
“I will comfort them in their afflictions.”
“I will be their secure refuge during life, and above all in death.”
“I will bestow a large blessing upon all their undertakings.”
“Sinners shall find in My Heart the source and the infinite ocean of mercy.”
“Tepid souls shall grow fervent.”
“Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection.”
“I will bless every place where a picture of My Heart shall be set up and honored.”
“I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts.”
“Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart, never to be blotted out.”
“I promise thee in the excessive mercy of My Heart that My all-powerful love will grant to all those who communicate on the First Friday in nine consecutive months, the grace of final penitence; they shall not die in My disgrace nor without receiving the Sacraments; My Divine heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.”

Just Do It!

Getting this blog started back up has made me realize this process seems to parallel how I’ve lived much of my faith and prayer life since coming back to the church. I’m so concerned about doing things right, doing things as near perfect as possible, doing things that other people will like or enjoy that I spend more time thinking about stuff than actually doing anything. Some call this “analysis by paralysis”, some would say it’s a form of procrastination, which I’m prone to, but ultimately if anything is going to get done we have to just do it.

I think at times we just need to do something for God glory no matter how small or insignificant we think it might be instead of putting things off so we can do them correctly in our own minds. I’m not suggesting we don’t focus on doing things the proper way, or that we don’t spend sometime discerning the right way to do something but if that’s all we are doing in our prayer lives or in taking up a ministry and answering God’s call then God will not be served. We must step out in faith and just do something for our Lord otherwise nothing will be done. Once we start moving the Holy Spirit will help propel us but we have to given Him the chance to help.

So that’s my post for today. It’s not exactly what I want to say and its not perfect but I think it will help get me going. Holy Spirit help me to do Your will and step out in faith to love and server You.

The New Site

Well after almost a years absence I have decided to start my website up again but under a new name and a new look which is still a work in progress. I had originally set it up under www.kccatholic.com back in September 2005. That URL is now forwarded here. Last April I stopped updating KCCatholic.com due to my time availability and since there was another blog on Blogger.com called KansasCityCatholic ran by Wolftracker who is definitely more in tune with the Catholic beat in KC than I am. Wolftracker’s site can now be found at kansascitycatholic.wordpress.com I check it regularly as I’ve always liked reading his postings and insight along with mixing it up in the comments section with other readers.

I still plan to blog here (hopefully on a regular basis) but I also plan to have this site double as a Catholic resource website. I’m still thinking the concept and the site through so the site will probably have a few different looks and take a few different shapes over the next couple of months. My hope is to bring certain resources to the Internet that aren’t readily found else where that will help to increase the amount of our Lord’s truth on the Internet. Any and all feedback on the site or my postings is welcomed and should be sent to me at sruyle@yahoo.com

May the Lord bless you and this endeavor. May this site help serve those who are searching for the truth and may the find it in our Lord Jesus Christ and His Catholic Church. Amen
