I know I have a Catholic blog and I probably should be writing more about Catholic things but every four years I become a political junkie of sorts. I watch the polls daily published at RealClearPolitics.com. It appears that ever since the Wall Street crisis that popped up on Sept 15th and McCain’s bone headed comment of “the fundamentals of the economy are sound” the presidential polls have been moving in Obama’s favor. In my prognostication of the election I see only one way for McCain to win regardless of what the national polls say. In case you didn’t know national polls don’t mean a thing, the Electoral College elects the president not the national polls. If you’re having a hard time understand this just go ask Hillary Clinton or Rudy Gulliani about whether the national polls mean anything. I believe they were both way ahead in those polls at this time last year.
In order for McCain to win 2 of 3 things have to happen:
#1 No matter what McCain has to win in Florida & carry the middle of the US: Missouri, Indian, Ohio, & Virginia. If one of those states goes for Obama, Obama will be President.
If #1 happens, which currently looks plausible then either of the following things has to occur. Either McCain wins 2 of 3 in Colorado, Nevada, & New Mexico or McCain wins one of the following three states: Minnesota, Michigan, or Pennsylvania.
Come November 4th we’ll see if my prognostication holds mustard.
Isn’t it interesting to see the media start putting out articles that abortion levels are at their lowest in 30 years as if to signal to people that its okay now to vote for a Pro-Abortion candidate because there are less babies being murdered than in previous years. Human life is sacred and even one abortion is too many. This election regardless of its turn out probably won’t change Roe v Wade but an Obama presidency would be a huge setback for the Pro-Life community. In Obama’s own words the first thing he will do is sign the “Freedom of Choice Act” which would wipe away all abortion restrictions currently in place. I agree with Obama that abortion is a culture war, but we must fight this war for those who cannot protect themselves.
