Do as I Say Not as I Do

It seems for the better part of the last two decades the National Republican Committee has offered their employees a health care policy that includes coverage of elective abortions.  The story broke a few days ago on Politico.com.  Thankfully once this detail was brought to the attention of party management they opted out of the so-called health care coverage.

I have been a registered Republican ever since I first registered to vote.  Thankfully I’ve never sent them any money.  While I believe political parties have their purpose in our electoral system, I’ve never felt compelled to support one financially or a candidate for that matter.  It seems big organizations continually fail themselves the larger they get which is why I believe many who use to be in the Republican party have become registered Independents.  What’s the purpose of belonging to a political party when they continually let you down?

Yes I’ve always have been a Republican and probably always will be, but I don’t think I’ll see the day that I send them any money.  I’m certainly open to voting for a Democrat provided they are solidly Pro-Life.  I figure if someone is truly Pro-Life I can probably compromise in other areas of public policy.
