Stupak Appears To Have Fallen

Pro-Life & Democart appears to be now officially extinct.  It appears Stupak is falling for a meaningless Executive Order.  If the Executive Order really mean anything you would hear the pro-abortion crowd yelling bloody murder, like they were on Friday afternoon when Pelosi was feeling them out for a seperate abortion vote.  If Stupak thinks that the presidents executive order will mean anything he should no longer be called Stupak, but Stupid.

The reality of this or any other text, though is: It is meaningless legally. It has no binding effect. I don’t know a single lawyer with a working knowledge of the Constitution, Congress, and the Executive, who says otherwise.

You can view a potential draft of the excutive order here.

Update 1:28 CST:  Other reports say Stupak is still a No.  Coud this be the mother of all BLUFFS by the Democrats?

ObamaCare

Something has happened over the last 48 hours, the money on the passage of the healthcare bill is going suddenly against its passage.  Let me just state that the money is rarely wrong so this is a good thing. All I can say is keep calling Congress and not just your representative but all of them regardless of where they stand and let them know you are against the bill in its current form.  Specifically we need to mention the bill’s taxpayer support of abortion.

Also I suggest that you ready Archbishop Naumann’s article and write Sister Carol Keehan, pictured to the left, here who gave support of the bill for the Catholic Healthcare Association.

UPDATELooks like some statements were made pushing things back past Easter.  But still keep calling.

1st Birthday

My son turns one today!  What a blessing he has been.  It’s amazing to watch him learn and see how he grows.  This first year went fast and slow all at the same time.

What an awesome responsibility God gives us to raise His children. I will say it was nearly impossible for me to understand the Father’s love until I became a father myself.  Thank You Lord.

Lenten Penance

So I just finalized my list of penance items for Lent.  Pray for me that I can accomplish them and grow from them.

1. 1 hour of TV per week
2. No Coke (all pop)
3. Coffee only 1 day per week
4. No reading news articles on my Blackberry (this could be the most difficult of the bunch as I’ve developed a habit of reading the news on my blackberry throughout the day – I promise to say a quick prayer when I grab for my vice, which should increase my prayer life a ton)
5. Restart a Morning Rosary

Now that I have a child TV is pretty much a luxury so I don’t think it will be that hard.  Although I am going to allow myself to bank my hour for the week and use it a later time during lent.  After all the Final Four starts April 3rd with Easter being April 4th.

My wife threw in vaccuming once a week and I asked her to do 30 minutes of spiritual reading or prayer every other day.

Bishop Approves Needle Distribution

From CatholicCulture.org there is an article about Bishop Howard Hubbard of Albany, who serves as chairman of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on International Justice and Peace. Bishop Hubbard has approved a proposal by diocesan Catholic Charities to distribute free needles to drug abusers in the hope of preventing the spread of AIDS.

SAY WHAT?

“I understand there will be questions, but this is common sense,” says Sister Maureen Joyce, CEO of Catholic Charities.

Okay folks, in my mind this is just plain wrong. Is this not cooperating with evil? Are they going to hand out condoms next? I think Bishop Hubbard needs to hear from the folks in the pew and from his brother bishops.

Still Think Obama Is Christian?

From the Catholic League

OBAMAS WOULD LIKE TO NEUTER CHRISTMAS
December 7, 2009

In yesterday’s New York Times, there was an article about White House social secretary Desirée Rogers. In it, reporter Sheryl Gay Stolberg wrote: “When former social secretaries gave a luncheon to welcome Ms. Rogers earlier this year, one participant said, she surprised them by suggesting the Obamas were planning a ‘non-religious Christmas….’”

This same participant said that “the Obamas did not intend to put the manger scene on display” (this was confirmed by the White House). Indeed, as Stolberg wrote, “there had been internal discussions about making Christmas more inclusive and whether to display the crèche.”

Catholic League president Bill Donohue addressed this issue today:

Unlike almost all Americans—including atheists—the Obamas do not give their children Christmas gifts. We know this because Barack bragged about this last year to People magazine. So it should come as no big surprise that he and his wife would like to neuter Christmas in the White House. That’s their natural step—to ban the public display of Christian symbols. Have any doubts? Last April, Georgetown University was ordered to put a drape over the name of Jesus as a condition of the president speaking there.

If the Obamas want to deprive their children of celebrating Christmas, that is their business. It is the business of the public to hold them accountable for the way they celebrate Christmas in the White House. We know one thing for sure: no other administration ever  entertained internal discussions on whether to display a nativity scene in the White  House.

Our president needs much prayer!
