The Coming Catholic Myarterdom

I’ve mentioned it before in December of 2009 & June of 2008.  Evidently it’s being discussed more and more.  Lord may my faith be strong and may I have the will to die for You has You died for me if called to.

Are You Clean?

It’s pretty normal for people these days to take a shower or bath every day or every other day.  How many days do you think you could go without bathing before people would notice?  How long before you would notice?

That’s physical cleanlyness.  Now how about spiritual cleanlyness? How long has it been since you’ve been to confession? Are you clean? Can people notice? Do you notice?

Stop Working For Numbers

Below is a great clip in which the Holy Father answers the question

“What the Church could do to make herself a more credible and attractive institution?”

“One might say that a church which seeks above all to be attractive would already be on the wrong path, because the Church does not work for itself, does not work to increase its numbers so as to have more power,” he answered. “The Church is at the service of Another; it does not serve itself, seeking to be a strong body, but it strives to make the Gospel of Jesus Christ accessible, the great truths, the great powers of love and of reconciliation that come always from the presence of Jesus Christ. In this sense, the Church does not seek to be attractive, but rather to make herself transparent for Jesus Christ.”

September 11th & Salvation

Our salvation will not be determined by our “feelings” or by what we “think”.  Our salvation will be determined by our actions, God’s Mercy, and our acceptance of that mercy.  For confession to be valid we must have true contrition.

I know many confessions when I was in habitual sinner where I did not have true contrition, as a worldly poor excuse for a Catholic I presumed God would be there to forgive me again after my next sin all I needed to do was ask. I created my own formula for salvation and I never had true contrition. This self made formula was not going to save me.  I basically had my own religion yet I called myself “Catholic”.

But 9 years ago today I watched the events of September 11th at a beer and pancake breakfast party. Beer at 7:30am thank you very much.  I then watched the events of the day unfold and I realized that day that thousands of people went to work that morning not feeling that they were going to die that morning.  Some I’m sure were mired in habitual sin like I was, I realized right then and there I needed to KNOW God and not assume I knew Him.

Yes God is Merciful, Yes God is Love, but God is also Just!  We choose to ignore that aspect of God because when we ignore His Justice, we think it gives us license to do as we please and He will forgive us.  As someone said above, this mocks God, and God will not be mocked!

If you get right with God you will no longer commit mortal sin with any regularity.  And when you do sin, you will know it, you won’t fight the fact, and you will have true contrition when you go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Adoration, frequent Reconciliation, the Eucharist in a state of grace, and Scripture Reading is the solution to all the ills of worldliness.

God Bless you and may God have mercy on those who die in sin, especially those who died on September 11th.

Eat My Flesh

Recently I’ve been listening to a whole series of talks by Michael Voris.  Since I go by John 6:54 on the Catholic Internet the following talk really hit home.  It’s called “Eat My Flesh”

Condoms Cause Problems

Are people who think Condoms are a solution to HIV/AIDS really looking at the data?  Are they really concerned with the health and well being of the people or Africa or of the world for that matter.  Or do they prefer to turn a blind eye to the data so they can think they are “safe” while being sexually promiscuous?  Watch and behold the facts.  Lastly there is one thing a condom won’t protect for sure, and that is your ever lasting soul.

Right & Wrong

We should not focus on right verses left, we should focus on right verses wrong.  Here is a prime example of “conservative” talking heads missing the boat on Gay Marrage.

Clear Catholic Teaching on Gay “Marriage”

Amazingly clear teaching on homosexual marriage from Bishop Olmsted in Phoenix, AZ.

….In a statement released on the Diocese of Phoenix’s website on August 10th, Bishop Olmsted wrote that the “misguided decision of Judge Vaughn Walker, striking down as unconstitutional the California Marriage Law called Proposition 8, cannot be passed over in silence.”

“Labeling homosexual ‘marriage’ as ‘a right’ is not an enlightened idea of the 21st century,” the bishop asserted. “It is a novel form of a resurrected falsehood from more than 2000 years ago. It will not stand the test of time, just as it cannot withstand popular opinion now.”

“In every state in our nation where this issue has been put to a vote of the people (31 of the 50), traditional marriage has won,” Olmsted noted. “It is only some activist judges, exercising raw judicial power over and against the will of the people, who have pushed their agenda of so-called ‘homosexual marriage.’”

The bishop also warned that what “is at stake here is cultural sanity and viability. Defending the clear nature and purpose of marriage is not discrimination against homosexual persons.”

“Why did God create both men and women, not just one sex?” the bishop asked. “Is it really all that difficult to fathom that God had a plan for marriage, which He wove into the very fabric of human nature? This plan is so deeply embedded in our human nature that every culture in history has recognized it and enshrined and protected it in law and custom.”

“Marriage being exclusively between a man and a woman was not an idea created by these cultures but, rather, a truth received by them as something handed down from a higher authority,” the prelate underscored.

“We need to again recall the key distinction, when considering homosexuality, between the homosexual inclination on the one hand and homosexual acts on the other,” Bishop Olmsted said.

The Phoenix bishop also clarified that although Scripture and Christian tradition hold that homosexual acts are sinful, “persons with homosexual inclinations but who do not engage in homosexual acts are not guilty of sin at all. No more or less than other persons, Christ calls them to holiness of life, inviting them as He invites us all to take up our cross each day and follow after Him.”

“All who follow Christ are given the grace to live the virtue of chastity; and they can joyfully do so with a clean heart.”

Seeking ‘true happiness’ for those with same-sex attraction

“Love and truth go hand-in-hand,” the bishop continued. “Everyone who experiences true love knows this – we want those we love to know the truth. As Catholics, we want to love people authentically and not in a mediocre way that would ignore dangers in a person’s life out of a shallow concern for political correctness.”

“We need never worry that speaking the truth clearly and charitably is a violation of love,” he stressed.

“Both Church teaching and the study of reality, the natural law, show that homosexuality is an objective disorder – that is, it does not correspond to the God-given reality of the sexually differentiated human being.

“Therefore, to condone the homosexual lifestyle is never a move in favor of a person’s true happiness,”  Bishop Olmsted wrote. “Moreover, to change the legal and societal definition of the fundamental institution of marriage in order to suit an adult sexual preference is a selfish and irresponsible corruption of the truth.

“The truth is that the reason why the state cannot redefine marriage is because it never defined it in the first place; it is a truth received, not created. It is God who defined marriage.

“For the state to redefine marriage will certainly have a negative impact on love, especially for children, who suffer most when marriage is weakened,” he warned.

More on Alter Girls & Women Priests

For those who think that some day there will be women Priests obviously choose not to listen to what the Magisterium of the Church teaches and are not aware of what a “Priest” really is or does.

I would hope everyone would agree that Jesus Christ was a MAN. When a priest offers the Sacrifice of the Mass the priest stands in the person of Christ, or In persona Christi. A woman no matter how able of doing the actions of the priest is not a man. Again God created us for a specific purpose. A male who knows who he is does not want to be pregnant or give birth, and a woman who knows who she is does not want to be a priest.  A woman maybe able to be a priest but she is not capable of being a priest. There is a difference in definition.

Once the Catholic laity come to understand this again they will not want alter girls. Which is why many Catholics who know, study, and surrender to their faith see alter girls as a poor novelty of this current time period at best. Surrendering to the teachings of the Catholic Church is surrendering oneself to Christ.

With that said God’s greatest human creation was a woman.  The Ever Virgin Mary is our model.  As good, or bad, as Fr. So-And-So might be we are not to emulate him we are to emulate the Holy Virgin Mary, the Mother of God.  If we humble ourselves as Mary did the we will humble ourselves to Christ.
